Army: 50 Boko Haram Members Killed In Borno

No fewer than 50 suspected Boko Haram sect members were killed in an encounter with Military Troops of 5 Brigade of 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Monguno when the terrorists laid ambush in two communities of Gajiram, the Headquarters of Nganzai and Bullabulin Ngaura of Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno state.

This was disclosed by the Spokesman of the 7Division, Leuitenant Colonel Sagir Musa in an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri Friday.
A resident, Malam Zannah Gajiram told newsmen in Maiduguri that the sect members have burnt down the Local Government Secretariat, a Junior Secondary School, 20 housing estates, Police Station and Military post, sacking the whole community.
According to him, the insurgents who stormed the town on Tuesday night, carried out operation up to Wednesday morning where they destroy almost all public buildings and houses belonging to politicians from the local government.
He said, “We learnt that, not less than 20 innocent civilians were killed by the insurgents while over 30 of the insurgents are said to have been killed when the military fighter helicopter arrived on Wednesday.
“As at yesterday (Thursday), the whole of Gajiram has been over taken. It is now under military control with serious house to house search operations going on; I cannot tell you whether or not there was arrest made as at the time we left Gajiram yesterday (Thursday), but I am sure the military would have made several arrest since the whole town is under their control now.”
Nganzai is about 73 kilometres, while Bullabulin Ngawra is 45 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital. Both councils are linked and have boarders with the terrorist’s camps of Marte and Sambiza Forests acclaimed to have been destroyed by JTF during the peak of the emergency rule and the military onslaught of Boko Haram terrorists in the state since June this year.
